1000 Years of Ukrainian History

Join us for a visual presentation of the history of Ukraine as depicted on stamps, postal history, and maps of Ukraine and the world. Andrew will trace the history of Ukraine from its ancient roots in Kyivan Rus’, through the formation of  the Cossack Hetmanate, the modern 1918 independence period, and the contemporary period of Ukraine’s independence from 1991.

A media technology specialist, artist and educator, Andrew Oleksiuk taught in the Interactive Arts and Media department at Columbia College Chicago and the Art and Technology Studies department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He received his BA in Digital Media from Columbia College Chicago in 1991 and completed his MFA in 2010 in Electronic Visualization and New Media Arts at the University of Illinois at Chicago. A Ukrainian-American Chicago-based artist, Andrew creates art in network operations centers, research libraries, artists' studios, post offices and public spaces.
